Having a great Employer Brand is oh so important, yet it is often not paid as much attention as it needs and deserves. Employer Branding is the creation of an employer identity that resonates with current and future employees and it even carries over to effect the perception of a business by its clients and consumers.
To improve your Employer Brand, you must gradually build your brand identity by highlighting your value as an employer to position yourself above the competition, reaching areas of the talent market that may otherwise have been inaccessible. I think it’s easier to understand if you picture this scenario.
Put yourself in the shoes of a candidate. You see a great job advertised online, but you’ve never heard of the company. You run a Google search and see a LinkedIn page, but it doesn’t look like it’s been active since 2018.
There’s a webpage, but there’s no current content on there, there’s no Facebook, no reviews on Google and nothing within the last year that’s been posted.
You apply, but you aren’t that bothered.
You see another, similar role advertised, with a similar salary. There’s a short promotional video attached to the advert that catches your eye. You Google the company.
Their LinkedIn page is active and there are articles from their leaders on how to develop people. There are videos from employees from all parts of the business talking about the company story and explaining their sense of purpose.
You can clearly see the company why and how you would fit in. You see and hear something you want to be part of, with a vision and purpose.
You’re more excited for the second role, right?
